Welcome to Right Here, For Now yoga. I am very excited to introduce my yoga series to you. This has been a dream of mine for a long time. However, in the past, each time I started down this path, the winds of life blew and I was headed off in a different direction once again. Over the past few months, though, my husband and I decided it was the right time to, finally, dedicate to creating this yoga series. I have practiced and loved yoga for two decades now, with ebbs and flows in my practice. It was during my pregnancy with our second son this past year that I most recently rediscovered the power of yoga. In addition, in the months following his birth, I have renewed my connection to its ability to balance and bring about a sense of stability and calm. It was during this time, that the fire was rekindled to share yoga with others.
During the planning and production of this first series, which focuses on the chakras, the world around us has changed dramatically. As COVID-19 spread across the continents and so many of us became isolated within our homes, I saw an incredible need to release these yoga practices as quickly as possible. People throughout the world are finding exercise opportunities limited, weather still cold and dreary in the late winter and early spring, and mental stamina stretched and weary. Anxiety, due to multiple factors, runs deep for many. As I worked on these videos, I saw more than just a yoga flow, I also saw an environment that, I hoped, would bring an escape, of sorts, for people watching. A retreat to a place of warm weather, sunshine, and turquoise oceans. I saw the serenity in these scenes as potentially calming to an individual watching, even if only for the duration of the practice. And, of course, I saw the power of yoga as a source of physical exercise and mental focus that could be practiced within the security of an individual’s home. For these reasons, my husband’s and my focus shifted to releasing the videos as soon as we could. With that being said, please excuse the audio as we begin releasing them. Our original microphone did not work as intended, but we did not want to delay making the yoga practice available while we waited for an appropriate one to be found, purchased, and arrive in the mail. For this reason, the audio may be less than optimal initially, but will be corrected down the line. This allows us to release the practices in their intended order, which is to start at the root chakra and work your way up the spine to the third eye chakra. Each of these chakras is the focus of its own practice. Although the initial release sequence is in this order, the purpose and structure of this series also allows individuals to choose which chakra needs their focus on any given day. In addition, you can choose to do only one video or two or more at a time.
I truly hope that you enjoy these yoga flows and that they bring you, not only physical well-being, but emotional balance and calm during these challenging times, as well as long after. Both our physical and our mental health need to be taken care of and yoga, for me, is an ideal practice for both. I hope that you find the same holds true for you. I invite you to join me on the mat for a yoga practice and to escape to the peace and serenity of the tropics for a little while, as well.
